日本で神社を訪れる際の作法

A jinja or shrine is a place of worship that enshrines Shinto deities called kami, and at which Shinto priests perform religious ceremonies for worshippers. Shinto is a Japanese religion in which Japanese people worship their ancestors and various kami that represent nature, based on the climate of Japan and their lifestyle.

神社とは、「カミ」と呼ばれる神道の神々を祀る礼拝の場で、神官が参拝者のために宗教的儀式を執り行います。神道は、日本の風土や日本人の生活習慣に基づき、祖先と自然を司る神々を崇拝する日本の宗教です。

Torii gates　鳥居

In the shrine grounds, there is a number of gates called torii to show the boundary between the human world and the sanctuary for kami. Bow and walk through the gates in order, from the first and second to the third torii. Avoid walking in the middle of the path, which is for deities and not for humans.

境内には、人間界と神の聖域の境界を示す「鳥居」という複数の門があります。一礼し、一の鳥居から二の鳥居と三の鳥居を順にくぐります。参道の中央は神様が通る道で人間が通る道ではないので、中央を歩かないようにします。
